Halloween makeup-dark fairy

This is my dark fairy look...Hope you like :o)

Remember, when doing dark eye looks you want to do your eye makeup first and do your face last. This way if you have any fallout from the dark pigments/eyeshadow you can just wipe them away with a makeup removing wipe without ruining your foundation.

What I used: All MAC products

First I primed each eye lid with paintrly paint pot
Starting right below the crease I used blackground paint pot and blended it up
below the blackground I applied bright fuchsia pigment
I then blended the blackground and bright fuchsia together with carbon eyeshadow
Above the blackground, right below the brow I used the light pink out of the Too Dolly Hello Kitty quad and blended up, until it made an almost purple color

Tight lined my upper lid with feline then lined the upper lid with fluidline in black track.
lined the bottom lid with feline and smudged carbon on lower lid.

Finished with opulash mascara

How to choose and wear red lipstick

First, you will need to choose a red lipstick. Skin tones on the pale side, should stick with a cool, bluey red lipstick, while olive skin tones traditionally look great with a more warm orangey-red lipstick.

When wearing a red lipstick, remember to keep the rest of your makeup more neutral, no heavy eye shadow, no heavy blush. Think Dita Von Teese!

First, exfoliate your lips. Buff all the dead skin away. (I like to mix together a little olive oil with brown sugar and exfoliate my lips with this).
After your finished exfoliating use a really good moisturizer on your lips. I like MAC lip treatment and I love Carmex, both work really well.
Blot away any excess moisturizer, then choose a well matched lip liner.
Line your lips in whatever shape you would like to achieve, then use the liner to color in your lips (this will keep the lipstick from bleeding and will also enable the lipstick to stay on for quite a while.)
I prefer applying lipstick with a lip brush, it's more accurate and just ends up looking much better. Apply the lipstick, then blot with a paper towel. Apply another coat, blot and you're done!

I have been using these products for a month now and I have to say I love them. I have milia under my eyes and the Oil of Olay face wash has made them far less noticeable. I also have sun damage and have noticed a more even skin tone.

The anti-wrinkle concentrate I use under and around my eyes, it does make the skin more firm but takes about 3 weeks to see any improvements.

The Monistat Chaffing gel I have been using as a primer and it is AMAZING! Before, I used Benefit's Instant Smooth and I loved that, however I didn't like the almost $30 price tag. This chaffing gel works better than the Benefit product and only cost $6!!! It's a must have.

So, in the time I've been away, I had a baby. I've been busy!!! Hopefully I will be updating this blog a couple of times a week, now that life is beginning to settle down a bit.

So, lets start!!

Today I was sifting through my drawer full of pigments, I wanted to use one I've never used. After about 5 minutes I decided on Circa Plum. Honestly, I bought this color just to have it and damn MAC on their catchy campaign launches! I've always thought this color was kinda, blah. Well, I really like it! It's gorgeous on. The look is simple. Circa Plum pigment and Vanilla shadow.

One-Off, Rated R, Smoke and Diamonds

Well, this collection is amazing. First I will start with the eye shadows. These shadows are "starflash" shadows. This, in my opinion is MAC's BEST formulation as far as shadows go. They are a powder but they are so soft they are almost creamy. In fact they feel creamy, go on very smooth and are VERY easy to blend. These shadows in this collection are extremely pigmented, a little definitely goes a long way. Rated R, is an amazing color it's almost exactly the same color as Sharp from the tempting quad. However the almost creamy texture of Rated R wins me over and makes it way better. Smoke and Diamonds, is pretty much the best "smoky eye" color you can buy, if you think black is too harsh, it's also lovely applied with a liner brush to the lash line. One-Off. I will admit, I am a total sucker for green eye shadows. I love them! I love the texture of this color, however the color itself reminds me of humid. So, if you have humid you don't really need this color. These are the three I bought, I will probably be purchasing the rest of the colors some time soon, if they don't sell out. I was at the MAC pro store in Orlando, Florida when these colors were released. I was lucky enough to snatch up Rated R the day it came out, I went back to the pro store two days later and this color along with a couple others were already sold out. :insert sad panda emoticon here: haha!

The eyeliners are really pretty. They are super creamy as all pearlglide liners are. You can even use these as eye shadows! Which is pretty damn neat. The downside to these liners is, they do not stay on my waterline. Within two hours they are smudged off and need to be reapplied. These are best applied on the upper lashline and on the lower lashline but not on the waterlines, they will smudge and run. As pretty as they all are, I only bought Rave. It, to me was the prettiest and there aren't any like it.

Revlon colorstay foundations and powders

Ok. So, I've also been using these for the last two months. The foundation really is comparable to MAC studio fix. The coverage is amazing, it comes in a wide range of colors and there is a oily/combo skin formula and a dry skin formula. I've been using the oily formula. I love MAC studio fix foundation and always will, however MAC studio fix foundation is a liquid to powder formulation and it tends to oxidize on the skin after an hour or so, causing the foundation to turn more yellow toned on the skin. I have not noticed this with the Revlon colorstay. This foundation is a great option for those who don't want to shell out the $28 for MAC studio fix, especially when walgreen/cvs/rite-aid run these foundations on sale for buy one get one free! I have even mixed this foundation with my revlon colorstay when I need some extra coverage and when the MAC tends to look to yellowish on my skin, which is when I have a little extra coloring on my face due to being out in the sun. I have heard complaints of people saying the Revlon colorstay is a bit too thick. This can be easily remedied by applying this foundation with a damp, disposable cosmetic sponge. Or by using a stippling brush to apply. I've also used this foundation on several weddings/special events I've worked. This foundation does contain a small SPF, however it photographs rather well, as long as you're using your proper shade.
I would recommend for the folks with dry skin, using a nice primer under this foundation, also those with "mature" skin who have some fine lines (I also recommend using the damp sponge method for you mature gals. This prevents the makeup settling into fine lines and creating weird lines.)

On to the Revlon colorstay powders. These pressed powders offer great coverage...BUT do not apply them with the powder puff it comes with. Apply the powder with a fluffy face brush and you will get a much better end result. I do find these powders a tad bit drying (which is good if you have oily skin, so if you have dry skin, make sure you're using a great moisturizer) You may want to watch out when you apply touch ups, it could end up looking cakey, especially if the powder isn't applied with a fluffy brush. Fluffly face brushes allow a large area to be powdered allowing sparse amounts to go on to the skin. Using the cheapo powder puffs in these compacts you will have a large amount of powder going onto a small area which causes the powder to look cakey and will give you an uneven look. A kabuki brush would even work for the application of pressed powder. I will post before and after pictures soon! If you have any questions feel free to send me a message.

I have been using this mascara for about 2 months now. I am a self confessed MAC junkie and have completely fallen in love with this mascara. It amplifies and separates lashes really well. Drug stores often run sales on this product. I bought four last time, I was in my local Wal-greens because they were having a buy one get one free sale. I will definitely be purchasing this product in the future. Oh and they now have a waterproof formula in this mascara. I will be sure to post some before and after pictures soon.
